I’ve held the position of Graphic Designer at the Detroit Department of Transportation (DDOT) in the Scheduling and Service Development division since 2019.

DDOT is the largest public transit provider in Michigan. It serves the city of Detroit, surrounding suburbs, and neighboring cities, including Highland Park and Hamtramck. DDOT serves an average of 85,000 riders daily.

DDOT System Map

The DDOT System Map needed to be redesigned once I had completed designing the bus schedules and maps for all 37 routes. Using the same style I had developed for those I dove in and created a cleaner, more coherent map than the previous one that had been generated using ArcGIS.

I researched other system maps, and as I had during the process of researching bus schedules I found solutions I thought worked well and incorporated them into my design.
