Detroit Department of Transportation (DDOT)

Maps / Schedules / Calendars

I’ve held the position of Graphic Designer at the Detroit Department of Transportation (DDOT) in the Scheduling and Service Development division since 2019.

DDOT is the largest public transit provider in Michigan. It serves the city of Detroit, surrounding suburbs, and neighboring cities, including Highland Park and Hamtramck. DDOT serves an average of 85,000 riders daily.

Bus Stop Signs

As part of the design overhaul with the bus schedules and system maps, we set about designing new bus stop signs that would provide information for our riders about what routes served the stop they were at, a bus stop ID they could use if they needed to contact customer service whose phone number was now listed on the sign, and website they could check for more information.

I designed these signs, coordinated their production, set up an inventory and assembly system, and installed decals and bus stop IDs for the first ten routes we introduced them on. I then set up an installation schedule and coordinated with our street team to make sure they were hitting their deadlines.
